Restaurant Ware
Sterling China
This restaurant ware 12" oval platter by the Sterling China company has no chips, cracks, crazing or fading of the transfer. The date code is T5 and it has a pretty Art Deco style geometric pattern border. I have tried to connect it with a particular hotel or restaurant and have been unable to find a similar pattern.

Sterling oval relish

This 8" oval plate has one heavy green band, two thinner bands and is very heavy. It does have three small "worn" areas on the back typical of a plate that was hung with those old fashioned wire wall mounts.

Phoenix Hotel Lexington Kentucky
This very heavy 10" plate has one heavy gray band done in a geometric pattern. There is no backstamp to identify the maker other than the one shown lower right image. I have found that the J.D. Purcell Co. was active with the Lexington Mens Asc. in 1904 and was involved with some kind of political corruption scandal and vote buying. (This dinnerware could have been part of a "payoff" to the hotel owners as they were all involved with each other.) It has three small "worn" areas on the back typical of a plate that was hung with those old fashioned wire wall mounts. The historic Phoenix Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky was torn down in the 1980s and there is now a park, public library and high-rise apartment complex on the site.

A set of 4-10" plates from Iroquois China. All are in excellent condition with no chips or discolorations. Iroquois China was in production between 1905 and 1969. These are very elegant plates. However, I have been unable to place the RTI.

This small, 9" oval platter from Buffalo China has no chips or repairs. It is a very good size for serving two to three people. It is a nice white color with scalloped edging trimmed in a brownish-yellow. Very understated and elegant.
